Cholesterol Monitors
Getting your cholesterol level monitored frequently is extremely important to keep heart diseases at bay. High cholesterol level is the chief reason behind heart attacks. These days, cheap cholesterol monitors are available widely, that too without prescription. Such monitors have been available over-the-counter since 1993, and are approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Thus measuring cholesterol levels is no longer a fussy and expensive affair.
The only problem with these is accuracy, these cholesterol monitors are 95% accurate if handled efficiently. And these are easy to use too. Only a few drops of blood are required. However, there are some problems associated with these cholesterol monitors. Some cholesterol monitors only give the total cholesterol readings, and do not show the HDL and LDL cholesterol levels separately. Digital cholesterol monitors are out now, and these give readings with better accuracy, and some of them even show levels of LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, glucose and triglyceride separately.
Owning a cholesterol monitor makes life vary convenient for people with high cholesterol levels. You do not need to go to a physician to have your cholesterol measured, but can easily do that in your home. You can also manage your cholesterol intake. The cholesterol monitors can be bought over the internet or from your local pharmacy. However, in case you don’t want to buy a monitor, and would rather have a professional physician do it, then do go in for a level check every six months
Before home cholesterol monitors were introduced, people had to go to the doctor every time they wanted to get their cholesterol level measured. Some people hesitated to do that for fear of the doctor. And the long line in the waiting room was also a dissuading factor. Hence, some people didn’t even know they had high cholesterol until it was too late to do anything. With the developing technology, all this has been eliminated, and you can monitor your cholesterol level in the comforts of your home.

And supplement your medications with a healthy lifestyle, consisting of regular physical exercise and a healthy diet. And if you are an avid smoker, make it a point to get rid of this habit, before its too late to do anything.
